Delaware Property & Casualty exam and license path

Delaware does not require prelicensing education for a producer license. This online Self Study product is optional independent exam preparation for Delaware's separate Property and Casualty producer examinations—not state-required or state-approved education, Pearson VUE, either exam, a background report, fingerprinting, application, appointment, or license.

1. Choose optional exam preparation

Product 1227 provides 70 days of online Self Study access for P&C exam preparation. Delaware does not require a course, and TSI makes no required-provider, recommendation, approval, or endorsement claim.

2. Schedule both major-line exams

Take Property InsDE_Prop04 and Casualty InsDE_Cas05. Pearson currently lists $90 per examination; candidates scheduling two listed major-line exams, except Personal Lines, on the same day pay only one examination fee. Reservations are required at least 24 hours ahead; no walk-ins.

3. Study each General and Delaware portion

Property totals 85 scored and 17 unscored pretest questions. Casualty totals 95 scored and 19 unscored pretest questions. Each General portion allows 1 hour 15 minutes and each Delaware portion 1 hour. Pearson says the candidate score report—not one universal percentage—shows the applicable scaled passing score.

4. Apply and complete current background steps

After results upload, apply through NIPR. It currently lists a $125 Delaware state fee, excluding its transaction fee, and requires resident state and federal criminal-history reports dated within 90 days. Confirm the insurance fingerprint service code and current submission method with Delaware DOI before acting.

Retake rule: A major-line candidate retakes only a failed content or statutes-and-regulations portion, but must pass the failed portion within one year of passing the first portion or retake the entire examination.

Current official Delaware sources

Course boundary: The $114.95 purchase provides 70 days of optional independent online Self Study access. It does not include Pearson registration, either examination or fee, criminal-history reports, fingerprints, the Delaware or NIPR fees, application, insurer appointment, or license. TSI does not claim Delaware DOI, Pearson VUE, NIPR, or Delaware State Police recommendation or endorsement and does not guarantee study completion, exam passage, application approval, appointment, or license issuance.

Delaware licensing FAQ

Does Delaware require a prelicensing course for a producer license?

No. The Delaware Department of Insurance says no prelicensing education is required for a resident or nonresident producer license. This product is optional independent exam preparation.

Is there one combined Delaware Property and Casualty producer exam?

No. Delaware uses separate major-line examinations: InsDE_Prop04 for Property and InsDE_Cas05 for Casualty. Each examination has a General portion and a Delaware statutes-and-regulations portion.

How many questions are on the Delaware Property producer exam?

Property has 50 scored plus 10 pretest General questions and 35 scored plus 7 pretest Delaware questions: 85 scored and 17 unscored pretest questions. Pearson allows 1 hour 15 minutes for General and 1 hour for Delaware.

How many questions are on the Delaware Casualty producer exam?

Casualty has 50 scored plus 10 pretest General questions and 45 scored plus 9 pretest Delaware questions: 95 scored and 19 unscored pretest questions. Pearson allows 1 hour 15 minutes for General and 1 hour for Delaware.

What do the Delaware producer exams cost?

Pearson currently lists $90 per examination. Candidates scheduling two listed major-line exams, except Personal Lines, on the same day pay only one examination fee. Verify the current fee when scheduling.

What score passes a Delaware producer exam?

Pearson says some Delaware exams require a scaled score of 70 and others 80. The applicable passing score appears on the candidate score report, so Delaware does not publish one universal passing score for every exam.

What happens if I fail only one exam portion?

Major-line candidates retake only the failed content or statutes-and-regulations portion, but must pass the failed portion within one year after passing the first portion or retake the entire examination.

What happens after the exams?

Apply through NIPR after the results upload. NIPR currently lists a $125 state fee excluding its transaction fee, says scores remain valid for 12 months, and requires resident state and federal criminal-history reports dated within 90 days.

Does the course include fingerprints, exams, or the Delaware license?

No. The $114.95 purchase provides 70 days of optional online Self Study access. Exams, background reports, fingerprints, application, fees, appointment, and license are separate. No outcome is guaranteed.

Official-source facts reviewed July 20, 2026. Confirm changing exam, fee, score, background-report, fingerprint, application, and appointment instructions with Delaware DOI, Pearson VUE, NIPR, and Delaware State Police before acting.
