New Mexico Property & Casualty exam and resident-license path
The current PSI/New Mexico bulletin says candidates are not required to take a prelicensing study course. This 70-day online Self Study product is optional independent exam preparation, not required education, an official study manual, a completion certificate, or a regulator-approved course.
Current vendor and exam: PSI administers the combined New Mexico Property and Casualty producer exam as series 18-31. The current content outline lists 150 items, 2.5 hours, and 70% correct to pass; PSI may add 5 to 10 unscored experimental questions.
1. Prepare for series 18-31
Use the current outline to organize study across New Mexico regulation, general insurance concepts, and the tested Property and Casualty topics. TSI provides independent preparation; OSI and PSI do not recommend a study provider.
2. Schedule and protect the fee
The current examination fee is $75. Test-center and online-proctored appointments are available. To cancel or reschedule without forfeiting the fee, PSI must receive notice at least two days before the appointment; voicemail and email are not accepted cancellation methods.
3. Understand the retake limit
A new appointment cannot be made on the same day as a failed exam. New Mexico allows up to four attempts for a line of authority; after a fourth unsuccessful attempt, a six-month waiting period applies.
4. Complete background and application steps
After passing, use OSI service code 2BH27J for the resident national background check. OSI says the report generally takes 3 to 5 days to arrive and remains valid for 90 days. Allow at least 48 hours for the exam result to reach NIPR, then submit the online application. NIPR currently lists a $30 state fee; its transaction fee is separate.

Does New Mexico require a prelicensing course for Property and Casualty?
No. The current PSI/New Mexico bulletin says OSI does not specify an official study manual and candidates are not required to take a prelicensing study course. This TSI product is optional independent exam preparation.

The current combined producer exam is PSI series 18-31. Property-only series 18-28 and Casualty-only series 18-29 also exist, but this product prepares for the combined P&C path.
