North Carolina Life & Accident and Health exam path

North Carolina no longer requires prelicensing education for Life or Accident and Health or Sickness applicants. The two state examinations remain separate and required. This online Self Study product is optional independent exam preparation, not the exams, application, fingerprints, company appointment, or license.

Around 80%first-time pass rate in qualified tracked large-group results.
Results vary by state, license line, and cohort. This is not a North Carolina-specific result or a guarantee.

1. Apply through NIPR first

Submit the resident application through NIPR. The application is valid for six months, and Pearson VUE sends the authorization email needed before scheduling.

2. Prepare for two exams

The current guide lists 01 Life Agent and 02 Accident and Health or Sickness Agent. Each is a two-part exam currently listed at 1 hour 15 minutes and $45 per attempt.

3. Complete fingerprints and documents

Initial resident Insurance Producer applicants generally follow the electronic fingerprint instructions sent after applying and upload the required signed forms through the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.

4. Wait for review and issuance

Pearson VUE transmits passing results for the pending application. Passing the examinations does not itself issue a license; the complete application remains subject to review.
