South Carolina Insurance License Course & Exam Prep

South Carolina insurance licensing

Start here: Compare the two South Carolina insurance license course routes, then use the current resident exam, application, and fingerprint sequence below. Requirements can change, so confirm the final steps with the state before applying.

What is the current South Carolina licensing sequence?

The current South Carolina producer page lists three resident-producer steps: complete the required exam, apply for the license, and obtain fingerprints. It does not put a mandatory prelicensing course before the standard producer exams on that current path. TSI’s courses on this page are optional self-study exam preparation.

Exam, application, and fingerprint steps

Exam: Pass the applicable South Carolina producer examination through Pearson VUE. The current SCDOI producer page says exam reports expire 12 months after issuance.

Application and background check: Apply online through NIPR after passing. The current state license fee is $25. SCDOI then emails new resident applicants with fingerprint scheduling directions; fingerprints should be obtained after or at the time of application.

  1. Choose the producer line you need.
  2. Prepare for and pass the Pearson VUE examination.
  3. Apply online through NIPR.
  4. Follow the SCDOI email instructions for resident fingerprints.

Which South Carolina insurance license course should I choose?

Choose the Life, Health & Annuity route if that is the authority and exam you plan to pursue. Choose Property & Casualty for the property/casualty authority and exam. They are separate full-price courses; confirm the exact authority you need with the state before buying.

What is included in each TSI self-study course?

Each listed course includes 70 days of online access, videos, flash cards, study notes, and unlimited practice tests. Course access and exam or application steps are separate.
