Current Washington resident sequence

  1. Choose Life & Health, Property & Casualty, or both based on the authority needed.
  2. Use optional independent Self Study if helpful. Washington OIC says producer prelicensing education has not been required since July 23, 2023; neither OIC nor PSI specifically endorses TSI study materials.
  3. Choose the PSI WA Life and Disability Producer Combo or WA Property and Casualty Producer Combo examination. Each current listing is 150 questions, 195 minutes, and $55.
  4. Use a PSI test center or check whether the candidate qualifies for remote testing. Confirm current device, room, identification, and appointment rules before scheduling.
  5. A score of at least 70 percent is required. Cancel or reschedule at least two days before the examination date to avoid forfeiting the separate fee.
  6. After passing, apply online and complete all application requirements within 180 days of the examination.
  7. Resident applicants submit the application before scheduling IdentoGO electronic fingerprints. The current first-time full-lines license fee is $55 and the separate fingerprint cost is $49; NIPR transaction fees are additional.
  8. Application approval, any required appointment, and license issuance remain separate from the course, exam, and application.

Is a Washington producer prelicensing school required?

No. Washington OIC says producer prelicensing education has not been required since July 23, 2023. TSI Self Study is optional independent exam preparation, not required education, completion credit, an official study manual, or an OIC or PSI endorsement.
