Current Louisiana resident sequence
- Choose Life & Health, Property & Casualty, or both based on the authority needed.
- Use optional independent Self Study if helpful. The current LDI-linked PSI bulletin says there are no prelicensing requirements for these producer examinations.
- Choose PSI Series 103, Life, Health and Accident or Sickness, or Series 106, Property and Casualty. Each combination exam is currently listed at $58.
- Use a PSI testing location. Remote testing for Louisiana insurance licensing examinations stopped effective July 8, 2024.
- Change or cancel at least two days before the scheduled examination date to preserve the fee. After a failed attempt, make the next reservation no earlier than the following day.
- After passing, submit the resident application through NIPR. The current state fee is $75 per insurance-producer application for all lines other than Surplus Lines; the NIPR transaction fee is additional.
- New residents submit the application and background-check authorization before IdentoGO fingerprinting. LDI normally receives PSI scores in one to two days and fingerprint results in seven to ten days.
- Application approval, any required appointment, and license issuance remain separate from the course, exam, and application.

Is a Louisiana producer prelicensing school required?
The current LDI-linked PSI bulletin says there are no prelicensing requirements for Louisiana insurance examinations except Public Adjuster and Bail Bond. TSI Self Study is optional independent preparation.
Which exam applies to Life and Health?
PSI lists Series 103, Life, Health and Accident or Sickness Producer, at a $58 combination-exam fee.
Which exam applies to Property and Casualty?
PSI lists Series 106, Property and Casualty Producer, at a $58 combination-exam fee.
What do the separate producer examinations cost?
The bulletin lists Series 101 Life, 102 Health and Accident or Sickness, 104 Property, 105 Casualty, and 107 Personal Lines at $36 each.
Can I take a Louisiana producer exam remotely?
No. The current PSI bulletin says remote testing stopped effective July 8, 2024 and Louisiana insurance licensing examinations are available only at PSI testing locations.
What are the cancellation and retest rules?
PSI requires cancellation or rescheduling notice two days before the scheduled examination date to preserve the fee. A failed candidate cannot make a new appointment the same day, may schedule the next day, and may retest as soon as the following day if space is available.
What happens after the examination?
LDI lists the resident sequence as examination, NIPR application, then fingerprinting. LDI normally receives PSI scores within one to two days and fingerprint results within seven to ten days.
When are fingerprints completed?
New resident applicants must submit the license application and background-check authorization before IdentoGO fingerprinting. Fingerprints submitted too early are not accepted or reviewed.
What is the producer application fee?
NIPR currently lists a $75 state fee per insurance-producer application for all lines of authority other than Surplus Lines. The NIPR transaction fee is separate.
Does a course purchase guarantee a pass or license?
No. Study completion, exam passage, application review, any required appointment, and license issuance are separate and are not guaranteed.
