Current New Hampshire resident sequence

  1. Choose Life & Health, Property & Casualty, or both based on the authority needed.
  2. Use optional independent Self Study if helpful. New Hampshire does not require a prelicensing study course, does not specify an official study manual, and does not recommend study materials.
  3. Schedule the applicable PSI exam. Combined L&H series 12-63 is in-person-only effective July 6, 2026; combined P&C series 12-64 remains listed for test-center or remote-proctored delivery.
  4. Take the applicable combined exam. Series 12-63 and 12-64 are each currently listed at $72, 150 items, and 2.5 hours, with 5 to 10 possible unscored experimental questions.
  5. After passing, apply electronically through NIPR. NIPR verifies exam status before allowing submission.
  6. The current Insurance Producer state application fee is $210, with NIPR transaction fees separate. Company appointment and license issuance remain separate.

Does New Hampshire require a prelicensing course?

No. The current PSI and New Hampshire bulletin says the Department does not specify an official study manual and candidates are not required to take a prelicensing study course. Candidates may choose their own preparation materials.

Which Life and Health exam applies?

PSI lists the combined Life, Accident and Health producer exam as series 12-63. It currently costs $72, contains 150 items, and allows 2.5 hours.

Can I take the Life and Health exam remotely?

No. Effective July 6, 2026, the current bulletin says series 12-63 is no longer offered by remote proctor. In-person testing remains available at PSI locations.

Which Property and Casualty exam applies?

PSI lists the combined Property and Casualty producer exam as series 12-64. It currently costs $72, contains 150 items, allows 2.5 hours, and remains listed for test-center or remote-proctored delivery.

Can PSI add unscored questions?

Yes. The current bulletin says 5 to 10 experimental questions may be administered in addition to the listed examination items. Those experimental questions are not scored.

What score is required to pass?

The current primary sources reviewed for this guide do not publish a numeric passing score. Confirm the current scoring standard directly with PSI before testing.

How do I apply after passing?

Submit the resident producer application electronically through NIPR. NIPR verifies exam status before allowing submission.

What is the resident producer application fee?

NIPR currently lists a $210 state fee for an Insurance Producer application. NIPR transaction fees are separate.

Does a course purchase guarantee a pass or license?
