Alaska Life & Health exam and resident-license path

Alaska requires the appropriate producer exams but does not list mandatory prelicensing education hours. This online Self Study product provides optional independent preparation for the separately tested Life and Accident and Health lines.

1. Prepare for two separate exams

Pearson VUE lists Life exam 01 and Accident and Health exam 02. Each line has 60 general questions in 1 hour 15 minutes plus 50 Alaska questions in 1 hour. The scaled passing score is 70.

2. Choose the testing route carefully

The current-linked handbook lists $89 at reservation. A physical test center can combine up to two allowable exams in one $89 session; OnVUE charges $89 for each exam. Exam results are valid for one year.

3. Apply and send fingerprints

Apply through NIPR after passing. NIPR currently lists a $75 Insurance Producer state fee, a $47 fingerprint fee, and an additional transaction fee. Send Alaska the original FBI FD 258 card and current consent form.

4. Separate product-training requirements

The title does not replace Alaska's separate requirements. Annuity transactions require one-time four-hour suitability training. Variable authority requires underlying Life authority and FINRA CRD verification.

Hiring or training an Alaska team?

Alaska's 2025 report lists first-time test-center pass rates of 58% for Life (110 of 190) and 56% for Accident and Health (66 of 117). Its separate online rows list 70% for Life (65 of 93) and 78% for Accident and Health (39 of 50). Separately, TSI has historically seen first-attempt pass rates around 80% in tracked larger-group classes where complete outcome reporting is available. These populations are not directly comparable; the TSI figure is a cross-cohort management observation, not an Alaska- or Life and Health-specific aggregate or guarantee.

TSI supports recurring agency, carrier, and recruiting cohorts. Build a group licensing plan or email Support@TSINational.com.

It is optional exam preparation, not mandatory Alaska prelicensing education, and does not include Pearson VUE exams, fingerprints, state or NIPR fees, annuity or variable-product training, appointment, or license. Alaska licensing FAQ

Does Alaska require prelicensing education hours for a resident Life and Health producer license?

The current Alaska resident-license path requires the appropriate exams but does not list mandatory prelicensing education hours. The Division encourages exam preparation. This TSI product is optional independent exam preparation.

Does Alaska use one combined Life and Health exam?

No. The Pearson VUE handbook currently linked for Alaska lists separate Life exam 01 and Accident and Health exam 02. Applicants seeking both authorities take both exams.

How long are the Alaska Life and Accident and Health exams?

For each line, the current-linked handbook lists 60 general questions in 1 hour 15 minutes and 50 Alaska questions in 1 hour. The current content outlines identify the scored and unscored portions.

What score is required to pass an Alaska insurance exam?

The current-linked handbook describes a scaled passing score of 70. A scaled score is not a raw percentage of questions answered correctly.

How much do the Alaska exams cost?

The current-linked handbook lists $89 at reservation. At a physical test center, up to two allowable exams may be taken in one session for $89; OnVUE charges a separate $89 fee for each exam. Confirm the current amount when reserving.

What were Alaska's 2025 first-time Life and Accident and Health exam results?

The state report lists test-center pass rates of 58% for Life, 110 of 190, and 56% for Accident and Health, 66 of 117. Its online rows list 70% for Life, 65 of 93, and 78% for Accident and Health, 39 of 50. These are separate statewide delivery populations, not TSI results or guarantees.

What does TSI's roughly 80% first-attempt pass-rate figure mean?

It is a management observation from tracked larger-group classes where complete outcome reporting is available. Results vary by state, line, delivery method, and cohort. It is not an Alaska- or Life and Health-specific aggregate, is not directly comparable to the state rows, and is not a guarantee.

How long are Alaska exam results valid?

The current-linked handbook says examination results are valid for one year and must be less than one year old when the license application is made.

What are the current Alaska application and fingerprint fees?

NIPR currently lists a $75 Insurance Producer state fee and a $47 fingerprint fee, excluding NIPR transaction fees. Alaska directs applicants to follow its current original-card, consent-form, and payment instructions.

How do Alaska residents submit fingerprints?

Alaska requires an original FBI FD 258 card for an initial resident applicant, plus the current Privacy and Consent form. The original card cannot be uploaded through the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.

What is the Alaska OnVUE retake rule?

Pearson currently allows four OnVUE attempts per exam. After failed attempts one, two, and three, the waits are 7, 14, and 30 days; later attempts must be at a Pearson VUE test center.

Does the product title mean Alaska annuity or variable-product training is included?

No. Alaska identifies separate product-training and authority requirements. Before transacting annuities, a producer must complete Alaska's separate one-time four-hour annuity suitability training. Variable authority requires the underlying Life authority and FINRA CRD verification. This purchase is exam preparation and does not establish either requirement.

Does this $114.95 course include exams, fingerprints, application fees, product training, or a license?

No. Purchase provides 70 days of independent TSI online study access. Pearson VUE exams, fingerprints, state and NIPR fees, product-specific training, appointment, and license are separate, and no outcome is guaranteed.

Official-source facts reviewed July 22, 2026. Confirm changing fees, schedules, exam outlines, product-training rules, and application instructions with Alaska, Pearson VUE, and NIPR before acting.
