West Virginia Life & Health prelicensing and exam path

This full-price course combines 70 days of online self-study with optional two-day live exam preparation for candidates pursuing both Life and Accident and Health or Sickness producer authorities. The optional live session is supplemental; required hours and completion certificates come from the online self-study path.

Two lines, two 20-hour components: West Virginia requires 20 hours per line. The public Sircon inquiry currently lists Insurance Training Professionals LLC / TSI National for Life course 114405 and Accident/Sickness course 114327, each 20 hours and classified as Self-Study / Online Training-Webinar through April 2028. Pursuing both lines means completing both components.

1. Complete both prelicensing components

Complete the Life and Accident/Sickness self-study requirements. Bring the required paper completion certificate or PL 789E to Pearson VUE. West Virginia says a prelicensing certificate is valid for six months.

2. Pass both Pearson exam portions

InsWV-Life01 and InsWV-AcSi02 are each listed at 90 questions / 120 minutes / scaled passing score 70. The current handbook lists an $84 exam fee and a 48-hour change/cancel deadline.

3. Preserve retest and waiver rules

West Virginia limits attempts to eight for each line, and Pearson requires a 24-hour wait before making a new retest reservation. Pass both portions within 12 months of the first passed part and do not switch between combined and separate formats when preserving a waiver.

4. Fingerprint and apply once

Follow current OIC/IdentoGo fingerprint instructions. NIPR says to allow 3 to 5 business days for exam information, select both lines on one application, and submit fingerprint documentation within 15 days after applying. The current state fee is $50, excluding the NIPR transaction fee.

Current official West Virginia sources

Course and fee boundary: Purchase is $174.95 and provides the combined online course path plus optional live exam preparation. It does not include Pearson, fingerprint/background-check, state application, or NIPR transaction fees, appointment, or a license. Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, and a separate variable-contracts authority are outside this product. A current Sircon course listing is approval evidence for the named courses, not an endorsement of TSI. TSI does not guarantee course completion, exam passage, fingerprint review, application approval, appointment, or license issuance.

West Virginia licensing FAQ

How much prelicensing education does West Virginia require for Life and Health?

West Virginia requires 20 hours for Life and 20 hours for Accident and Health or Sickness. A candidate pursuing both lines completes both components, for 40 total hours.

Is TSI listed for these West Virginia prelicensing courses?

Yes. The current public Sircon lookup lists Insurance Training Professionals LLC / TSI National for 20-hour Life course 114405 and 20-hour Accident/Sickness course 114327, both as Self-Study / Online Training-Webinar through April 2028.

Does the optional two-day live session award West Virginia prelicensing hours?

No. The optional live exam-prep session is supplemental study support. Required hours and completion certificates come from the online self-study path.

Which Pearson exams cover the two producer lines?

Life uses InsWV-Life01. Accident and Health or Sickness uses InsWV-AcSi02. Pearson currently lists each exam at 90 questions, 120 minutes, and a scaled passing score of 70.

What does Pearson currently charge for the West Virginia insurance exam?

The June 2026 Pearson handbook lists an $84 examination fee. Confirm the exact charge in the current reservation flow, especially when selecting one or both exam portions.

What is the Pearson change or cancellation deadline?

The current handbook says to change or cancel at least 48 hours before the examination to transfer the fee or request a refund. Without proper notice, the fee is forfeited.

What should I bring to the Pearson test center?

Bring the required identification and a paper Certificate of Pre-licensing Course Completion or PL 789E. West Virginia says prelicensing certificates are valid for six months.

How many attempts are allowed and when can I reserve a retest?

West Virginia limits a candidate to eight attempts for each line of authority. Pearson says to wait 24 hours before making a new retest reservation.

How does the two-part waiver work for Life and Accident/Sickness?

Both parts must be passed within 12 months of the first passed portion. If you begin with a combined reservation and fail one part, preserve that combined format; switching formats voids the prior pass waiver.

When should I apply through NIPR?

After passing and following the current fingerprint instructions, allow 3 to 5 business days for exam information. Select both desired lines on one NIPR application rather than submitting duplicate applications.

What is the West Virginia resident producer state application fee?

NIPR currently lists a $50 state fee per application, excluding the NIPR transaction fee.

What is the fingerprint deadline?

NIPR says major-line resident applicants must submit fingerprint documentation to West Virginia within 15 days after applying. Use the current OIC and IdentoGo instructions.

Can a producer moving from another state qualify for an exemption?

W. Va. Code section 33-12-14 provides a same-lines prelicensing and exam exemption when its conditions are met, including the applicable 90-day window.

What is outside this combined Life and Health product?

Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, fingerprint and vendor fees, the state application, NIPR transaction fees, insurer appointment, and a separate variable-contracts authority are outside this product.

Does this course guarantee an exam pass or West Virginia license?

No. Course completion, exam passage, fingerprint review, application approval, appointment, and license issuance are separate and are not guaranteed.
