Alabama Property & Casualty exam and resident-license path

Alabama no longer requires a prelicensing certificate. This online Self Study product provides optional independent preparation for the state's combined Property and Casualty producer exam and its separately available line exams.

1. Use Alabama's current exam outline

The combined Property and Casualty exam has 150 questions, allows 180 minutes, and requires 105 correct answers. The outline weights fundamentals, personal lines, commercial lines, and Alabama law.

2. Register with the state's exam vendor

The Alabama Department of Insurance identifies the University of Alabama as its exam vendor. The combined P&C exam is currently $75, nonrefundable, and must be scheduled at least seven days ahead.

3. Coordinate results and fingerprints

After passing, allow three to five business days for the grade to reach the licensing system. Alabama recommends using Fieldprint after the exam and one day before applying because fingerprint results remain available for only 30 days.

4. Apply through NIPR

NIPR currently lists an $80 Insurance Producer state fee, excluding its transaction fee. Submit the online application and Alabama proof of citizenship; the state says an exam certificate is valid for one year.

Current official Alabama sources

TSI does not claim Alabama, the University of Alabama, or NIPR recommendation or endorsement and does not guarantee study completion, exam passage, background clearance, application approval, appointment, or license issuance.
