Illinois Property & Casualty prelicensing: complete both parts

Illinois requires 20 hours for Property and 20 hours for Casualty. At least 7.5 hours for each line must be completed in a classroom or webinar setting. TSI's approved Combination method therefore includes online study plus required webinar instruction.

Complete the full Combination course: the combined P&C path is 40 total prelicensing hours, including 15 classroom/webinar hours. Self-study alone does not satisfy Illinois prelicensing.

1. Complete online study and webinar instruction

Work through the online lessons and study tools, then complete the required webinar instruction scheduled with your enrollment. Both components are required before testing.

2. Pass both exam parts for each line

Illinois DOI directs candidates to register for the General and State examination for each line. Both parts for a line must be passed within 90 days. Take proof of course completion to the test center.

3. Wait five days, then apply through NIPR

After passing all required exam parts, wait five days before applying. Confirm the current state fee and transaction charges with NIPR before submitting.

4. Finish the licensing and appointment steps

Application approval, insurer appointment, and license issuance remain separate from course completion and purchase.
