Kansas Property & Casualty exam and resident-license path
Kansas does not require prelicensing education. This online Self Study product is optional independent preparation for the combined Property & Casualty and Allied Lines producer exam; KDOI and Pearson VUE do not endorse a particular school or study material.
1. Prepare for combined exam 12-KS-06
The current Pearson content outline lists 140 scored questions plus 14 unscored pretest questions. The handbook lists 150 minutes and costs $64. The passing score is 70%.
2. Reserve a physical test center
Current Pearson and KDOI pages route Kansas candidates to physical test centers. Reserve at least 24 hours ahead. After a failure, wait at least 24 hours before scheduling and seven calendar days before retaking; the handbook states no attempt limit.
3. Complete resident documents
Obtain a Kansas tax-clearance certificate, apply through NIPR, complete fingerprints and criminal-background check, submit the electronic FBI waiver, and upload the tax clearance plus front and back of a valid Kansas driver's license or state ID through the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
4. Confirm the current application fee
Candidates may apply before or after the exam. Exam scores are valid for two years. Current sources conflict: the live KDOI producer page and NIPR list $10, while the checklist revised May 29, 2026 lists $15. Both list a separate $60 criminal-background-check fee; confirm the live amount when applying.
