North Carolina P&C exam and license path
North Carolina no longer requires pre-licensing education for Property or Casualty. The state exams remain required. This online Self Study product is optional exam preparation, not the exams, application, fingerprint process, insurer appointment, or license.
1. Apply through NIPR first
Submit the resident application through NIPR before scheduling. The application is valid for six months, and Pearson VUE sends the authorization email needed to test.
2. Take separate exams
The current guide lists Property exam 04 and Casualty exam 05. Each currently allows 1 hour, 15 minutes and lists a $45 fee per attempt. Verify current fees and appointments with Pearson VUE.
3. Complete fingerprints and documents
Initial resident Insurance Producer applicants generally follow the electronic fingerprint instructions sent after applying and upload the required signed forms through the NIPR Attachment Warehouse.
4. Wait for review and issuance
Pearson VUE transmits passing results to NIPR for the pending application. Passing the exams does not itself issue a license; the complete application remains subject to review.
