Vermont Property & Casualty exam and resident-license path
Vermont's ordinary resident producer path is exam-based. Prometric lets candidates who did not use a prelicensing provider select Not Applicable. This 70-day online Self Study product is optional independent exam preparation and is not represented as a licensing requirement, Vermont-approved education, completion credit, an official study manual, or a regulator-approved provider offering.
One combined producer exam: First-time candidates seeking both lines use Prometric series 14-31, Producer's Property and Casualty. The current outline lists 150 scored questions plus 5 unscored items and a 2.5-hour time limit. The combination examination produces one final score, and the complete examination must be passed.
1. Prepare to the current outline
Use the official series 14-31 outline as the topic contract. Vermont DFR and Prometric do not review or approve TSI study materials; TSI is independent preparation.
2. Choose test-center or remote delivery
Prometric offers physical test-center and ProProctor remote delivery. An exam registration remains valid for 90 calendar days after processing.
3. Protect the exam fee
Reschedule or cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment to avoid forfeiting the fee. The exam fee is separate and should be confirmed in the current Prometric scheduling flow.
4. Apply through the current resident path
The Prometric bulletin says residents can apply electronically through NIPR after 48 hours. Vermont statute requires the application within 24 months after the exam. NIPR currently lists a $60 resident Insurance Producer state fee, excluding NIPR transaction fees.
