Washington P&C exam and license path
Washington no longer requires producer prelicensing education. This online Self Study product is optional independent preparation, not Washington OIC, PSI, the examination, NIPR application, fingerprinting, appointment, or license.
1. Choose optional exam preparation
Washington eliminated the producer prelicensing-education requirement effective July 23, 2023. OIC retains a courtesy provider list but does not recommend or endorse providers; TSI makes no required-provider, recommendation, approval, or endorsement claim.
2. Take the combined P&C producer exam
PSI currently lists one WA Property and Casualty Producer Combo examination. The live PSI program record reviewed July 19, 2026 lists 195 minutes and a $55 exam fee. Verify current fees and appointment availability when scheduling.
3. Use a test center or qualifying remote delivery
Washington OIC currently permits PSI test-center or remote testing for candidates who satisfy current requirements. The passing score is 70%. Confirm current identification, device, workspace, second-camera, and proctoring rules with PSI.
4. Apply, then complete resident fingerprints
After passing, submit the producer application online through NIPR. Washington residents then schedule IdentoGO fingerprints using the OIC or NIPR transaction number; NIPR currently says to allow 36-48 hours after application submission before scheduling. Passing and fingerprinting do not themselves issue a license.
