West Virginia licensing FAQ
How much West Virginia prelicensing education is required?
West Virginia requires 20 hours for Life and 20 hours for Accident and Health or Sickness. The current public Sircon lookup lists TSI courses 114405 and 114327 for those separate requirements through April 2028.
Does the optional two-day live session provide the required hours?
No. Required hours and completion certificates come from the online self-study path. The two-day live session is supplemental exam preparation.
Are Life and Accident/Sickness one combined West Virginia exam?
No. Pearson VUE administers separate Life exam InsWV-Life01 and Accident and Health or Sickness exam InsWV-AcSi02. Each is currently listed at 90 questions, 120 minutes, and a scaled passing score of 70.
What does Pearson currently charge?
The June 2026 Pearson handbook lists an $84 examination fee and a 48-hour change or cancellation deadline. Confirm the exact charge in the current reservation flow, especially when selecting one or both portions.
How do retests and a two-part pass work?
West Virginia limits a candidate to eight attempts per line. Pearson requires a 24-hour wait before a new retest reservation, and both portions must be passed within 12 months of the first passed portion.
When does a West Virginia resident apply?
After passing, follow the current OIC and IdentoGo fingerprint instructions, allow 3 to 5 business days for exam information, and select both desired lines on one NIPR application. NIPR requires fingerprint documentation within 15 days after applying.
What costs are separate from the TSI course?
The Pearson exam, fingerprint and background-check fees, $50 state application fee, NIPR transaction fee, appointment, and licensing are separate from the $174.95 TSI course.
Does this purchase guarantee a license?
No. Education completion, exam passage, fingerprint review, application approval, appointment, and license issuance are separate requirements and are not guaranteed.
Course boundary: The $174.95 purchase provides 70 days of TSI online self-study access for the approved Life and Accident and Health or Sickness education components plus optional two-day live exam preparation. Pearson, fingerprint/background-check, state application, and NIPR transaction fees, appointment, and licensing are not included. TSI does not claim regulator or vendor endorsement and does not guarantee education completion, exam passage, fingerprint review, application approval, appointment, or license issuance. Property, Casualty, Personal Lines, and a separate variable-contracts authority are not offered on this page.
