Line-specific hour guide

  • Major lines and personal lines: 21 hours plus 3 ethics = 24 hours.
  • Title: 6 hours plus 3 ethics = 9 hours.
  • Crop: 3 hours plus 3 ethics = 6 hours.
  • Funeral: 6 hours plus 3 ethics = 9 hours.
  • Funeral director: 3 hours plus 3 ethics = 6 hours.
  • Viatical: 12 hours plus 3 ethics = 15 hours.
  • Cumulative cap: Nebraska DOI says no licensee is required to complete more than 24 cumulative hours in any two-year period.

Specialty training

  • Annuity best interest: life or limited funeral producers who want to solicit annuities must complete a one-time four-credit annuity training course.
  • Long-term care: health licensees selling LTC need one-time 8-hour training and ongoing 4-hour refresher training during each 24-month period.
  • Flood: resident property/casualty licensees must complete a one-time 3-hour NFIP course to sell, solicit, or negotiate flood insurance.

Renewal checklist

  1. Check your SBS education transcript early in the renewal period.
  2. Identify the CE bucket for each line of authority you hold.
  3. Finish ethics before the last week of renewal so provider reporting has time to post.
  4. Avoid repeating a course within the same 2-year period unless you have confirmed it will count.
  5. Save completion certificates and recheck the transcript after the provider upload window.

Course planning

TSI National can help you plan CE, but Nebraska DOI controls CE credit, transcript posting, and renewal approval. Use your SBS transcript as the source of truth, then choose courses that close the exact gaps. You can review training options on the TSI National course results page.
