Idaho Insurance CE Renewal Requirements and Checklist

Idaho resident producer renewal depends on both CE completion and a separate renewal application. Completing CE alone does not automatically renew the license.

Idaho at a glance

Short answers first. Open a detail only when you need the source-backed nuance.

Standard resident CE24 hrs / 3 ethics

Details

Idaho residents with listed producer, adjuster, or bail licenses complete 24 hours every 2 years, with at least 3 hours in ethics.

DeadlineBirth-month last day

Details

Idaho says CE is due before the last day of the birth-month expiration date; complete at least 3 weeks early.

Renewal applicationNIPR still required

Details

Idaho says licenses do not automatically renew on CE completion; submit the NIPR renewal after CE is complete.

Reporting timing30 days + 1-5 days

Details

Providers have 30 days to upload credits; after overnight PDB reporting it can take 1-5 business days before NIPR renewal is available.

CarryoverNo carryover

Details

Idaho says credit must be earned within the renewal period; no excess credit carryover is allowed.

Special productsFlood / LTC / annuity

Details

Flood has one-time 3-hour NFIP training; LTC has 8-hour initial plus 4-hour ongoing every 24 months; annuity suitability training may also apply.

CertificatesKeep 5 years

Details

Idaho says keep certificates for five years and do not send them unless requested.

Renewal checklist

  1. Check SBS transcript and license expiration; plan to finish at least three weeks early.
  2. Complete 24 approved CE hours with 3 ethics; any catalog course can count, not only held lines.
  3. Confirm special product training for flood, LTC, and annuity sales.
  4. Wait for SBS, PDB, and NIPR status after provider upload before filing renewal.
  5. Submit NIPR renewal; CE completion alone does not renew the license.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Waiting until expiration; Idaho has no CE or renewal grace period and penalties accrue.
  • Assuming CE completion automatically renews the license.
  • Expecting instant transcript or PDB updates.
  • Counting repeated courses or carryover credits.
