Current Kansas resident sequence
- Choose the combined authority needed: Life and Health or Property and Casualty.
- Use optional independent Self Study if helpful. Kansas does not require prelicensing education and does not endorse a particular school or study material.
- Reserve the matching physical-test-center exam: 12-KS-05 for Life and Accident & Health or 12-KS-06 for Property & Casualty and Allied Lines. Each is currently $64, 150 minutes, 140 scored plus 14 unscored pretest questions, with a 70 percent passing score.
- Apply through NIPR before or after the exam. Obtain tax clearance, complete fingerprints and the criminal-background process, submit the electronic FBI waiver, and upload the required Kansas ID and tax-clearance documents.
- Confirm the live application amount because current official sources conflict at $10, $15, and $30; the criminal-background fee is separately listed at $60. Exam scores are valid for two years. Insurer appointment is separate.
