Inside your Texas Life & Health course
Work through the online course at your own pace. Use the lessons and practice to decide what to review next.
1. Definitions
Build the insurance vocabulary first. Keep a short review list so unfamiliar terms do not distract you from the coverage or benefit being tested.
2. Health Plans
Connect health coverage, benefits and cost-sharing concepts to the situations in your lessons. Review the explanation behind an answer before trying another question.
3. Life & Annuity
Connect policy roles, life insurance benefits and annuity concepts. Identify what the question is asking before comparing the answer choices.
4. State Regulation
Study the Texas material alongside the general insurance concepts. Keep a separate list of state-specific topics to revisit during practice review.
Turn practice into a review plan
After working through the topics, use your course’s Practice section to identify weak areas. Return to the relevant lesson and explain why the answer fits. Follow the instructions in Final and any other completion steps shown in your course.
Reinforce your review with the course reference and printable study cards available in your course.

Life & Health sample: level vs. decreasing term
Term life insurance covers a specified period. Two policies can last for the same number of years while their death benefits behave differently. A level term policy keeps the death benefit level during its term. A decreasing term policy reduces that benefit according to the policy schedule.
Work through an example. Policy A has a $250,000 death benefit throughout its 20-year term. Policy B starts at $250,000 and reduces its death benefit each year. Which policy illustrates decreasing term?
Show the answer and reasoning
Policy B. The clue is the changing death benefit. Both policies are temporary coverage; the length of the term does not tell you whether the benefit is level or decreasing. Check what changes in the question before choosing an answer.
Original practice example based on the term-policy concepts in TSI's Life & Health course and quick reference. It is not a state exam question or a recommendation to buy a particular insurance policy.
How the course builds on this topic
- Build the vocabulary: insurance definitions, risk and contract concepts.
- Study health plans: health provisions, disability, major medical, group and social insurance.
- Work through life and annuities: life insurance basics, policy types, provisions, annuities and retirement.
- Review regulation and practice: study the assigned regulatory material, use practice tests and revisit topics you miss.
A practical study rhythm: complete one topic, try the related practice, and review the explanation before moving on. Set your pace within the 70-day access period; a suggested sequence is not a promised completion time.
